It all began in the 1880s, when construction of the complex first started.
More specifically, in 1882 the Misrachi family, of Jewish origin, proceeded with the construction of a ground-floor distillery. A few years later, the powerful Jewish business families Allatini and Fernandez joined the ownership structure, contributing to the development of the venture. The unit was soon converted into a brewery following German and Bavarian standards, and renamed “Olympus Brewery S.A.”
Meanwhile, in 1909, just a few meters away, the Georgiadis brothers founded an ice factory, which three years later expanded into brewing under the name “Naoussa – Georgiadis & Co. Ice and Refrigeration Industry.” In 1920, the two companies merged, creating a unified industrial complex known as “Olympus–Naoussa.”
In 1926, driven by the strong entrepreneurial instinct that characterized brothers Ioannis and Antonis Fix, the Athens-based company “Karolos Fix S.A.” absorbed the complex. In this way, the property acquired the name by which we all know it today. FIX proceeded with an extensive upgrade of the facilities, constructing a new malthouse, brewery, and several auxiliary buildings-developments that fueled over six decades of business prosperity, until the company’s bankruptcy in 1983.
In 1994, most of the buildings, along with their technological and mechanical equipment, were declared listed monuments of industrial heritage (Government Gazette 479/Β/24.6.1994).
After four decades of abandonment, the property was acquired by the DIMAND Group in 2022–2023, marking the beginning of a new cycle of life. Preparatory works for its reconstruction and adaptive reuse commenced, with the aim of reviving an emblematic chapter of the city and transforming it into a vibrant, contemporary destination.
